On a birthday trip to Cancun Mexico I was lucky enough to take a bird tour via boat and we approached this pelican sitting atop a pole. Having never been close to one (No pelicans in Wisconsin) I was amazed at his size. He checked me out and did not fly away, giving me the opportunity for some great photos. And this wonderful painting.
